Found a book I bought from a secondhand bookstore a few years ago. It was a small, short book and it was more than a decade old by the time I bought it.
But in spite of its appearance and age (not to mention the distinct old book odor), I still had to pay an amount for it because of the VALUE of its content.
The principle also applies to how we may see ourselves coping during challenging times.
Sometimes we may feel discouraged when we see ourselves as failures according to the standards set by society. We may feel inadequate compared to the achievements of our peers.
But regardless of all of these, remember that God sees us differently.
You have been made worthy and is of value because you have the greatest treasure of all: the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. And as the “earthly vessels” of this treasure, we have the privilege to enjoy this gift and to be part of God’s amazing work.
So rest if you need to. Take a break and recharge. Read a book. Don't forget your value because we still have work to do for the Lord.
2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
