A Heaven Worth Longing

Two men were invited to a wedding.

One man prepared his best suit for the event. “My friend is getting married and I’ll be there to witness it,” he said, “What a privilege!”

The other man didn’t even mind dressing up. “I’ll be there just for the buffet,” he thought.

He just wants to get inside the venue and get his tummy filled. “I don’t even know the couple that well,” he added.

Both men had the same desire- to attend the wedding.

But only the first man had the right intentions- he wanted to celebrate with the couple.

To rejoice with them. To be in their presence.

The second man only wants what he can get for himself.

Although our actions may not reveal our real intentions, it reflects how we treat and value other people.

God also sends an invitation- to receive Christ as Savior of our lives.

And Heaven is like a great banquet- a great motivation to come to Christ. But if our only intention is to get there and nothing else, we might be missing the point.

We come to Christ not so we can have a good life and have the benefits of Heaven.

We come to Christ, first, because we recognize we are in need of a Savior.

Tainted with a past not worth saving Christ gave me a new life worth living. And now, the chance to be with Him Makes Heaven all worth longing.
