One Small Blue Towel

hilbertgo

Many weeks ago, I stopped on a red light on a rainy weekday afternoon.

There were 3 little girls going from car to car selling sampaguita. They were all soaking wet from the rain.

When one of the girls knocked on my car window I told her, “Sorry di ako bibili. Sa iba nalang.”

Then I remembered I had an extra small blue towel.

So I gave it to her and I said, “Sa’yo nalang ‘to. Sumilong ka na. Wag ka na magpaulan.”

She smiled and thanked me then she went to her friends and showed them the towel she got.

After a while the little girl unfolded the towel and started wiping her hair and her face.

Then something wonderful happened...

Without hesitation, she gave the towel to the 2nd girl. And the 2nd girl also did the same thing.

She wiped her hair and her face. Using the same towel.

And after that, the 2nd girl gave the towel to the 3rd girl. And she also did the same.

Wiping her hair and her face. Using the same towel.

As the traffic light turned green, I glimpse upon 3 smiling faces.

From 3 little girls all dried up. All because of one small blue towel.

One thing I learned is that sometimes it's ok if you only have “one small blue towel” to share to the world.

What matters is your willingness to be a channel of blessing. Even to just one random person.

Maybe that's the reason why we cannot measure kindness.

Because if we give it away, it always keeps multiplying.
