Happy National Kid's Day

While mommy was opening her Mother’s Day gift, our son turned to me and said, “Daddy, we should celebrate National Kid’s Day everyday.”

“What are we going to do that day?”

“Kids will have gifts and they can do all fun stuff that they like.”

I smiled and told him if we celebrate something everyday, then it might lose its uniqueness and it'll just be another typical day.

Special moments are meant to be celebrated once in a while so we would value them more than any ordinary day.

Someone said that the difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that one little word called ‘extra.’

So as parents, if you have a little extra, maybe come home a little early from work today. Have a short family stroll around the neighborhood. Take a seat at the lego table and build a few spacecrafts.

If you have a little extra, try ordering their favorite pizza for a yummy family dinner. And don’t forget to leave some tummy space for their favorite ice cream.

Later, if you have a little extra, stay up a little longer before bedtime. Grab their favorite book and read with them. Maybe tell a few funny jokes and laugh out loud. Then pray together and thank God for this extraordinary day.

I’m not sure if there's a real National Kid’s Day. Or maybe we don’t have one so we parents can celebrate it any day we want.

One thing I’m sure of is that extraordinary moments don’t need a date or a season to be special. All we need is just a little word called ‘extra.’
