Our Son Loves Claw Machines.

One time he played for 8 rounds and spent almost 200 pesos.

And on that particular day, he won and grabbed a prize from the pile- a small blue teddy bear. He was ecstatic to finally win while I was relieved that I don't need to give him another coin.

I thought 200 pesos is enough, right?

Besides, from my estimate, that blue teddy bear won’t cost more than 50 pesos.

But for my son, that toy was priceless.

In fact, he was still holding it during our car ride home. And even placed the tiny stuffed toy beside his bed that night.

Now there is something that we can learn from claw machines that kids don’t have a problem understanding. It’s a lesson about value and worth.

From my son’s perspective, the worth of that toy is more than its 50 pesos value. All the excitement and frustration from every grab of that mechanical arm made that toy even more special.

“An object becomes priceless in the hands of the one who knows it’s worth.”

As Christians, claw machines are a reminder that when you don’t feel like you measure up to the “standards”, you are probably correct.

After all, we never did. And we never will.

But no matter how much we fail, the cross of Christ is a reminder that God will always see us differently.

Worth more than our value.

Like a small toy from the pile, grabbed by Grace.

"A person becomes precious in the eyes of the One who sees us thru the cross."
