This Is What A Long 2 Hour Lunch Looks Like

This is what a long 2 hour lunch looks like.

Our son’s current record is 3 hours. It was so dragging that I even took a nap at our dining table after a couple rounds of dessert. And he's still not finished eating.

But you know what’s interesting?

With almost the same amount of food, it only takes him 30-minutes to finish his school baon during recess.

So, during one gruesome lunch marathon, I asked what makes him eat faster when he’s at school.

He replied, “When recess is about to end, teacher will say ‘Last five minutes.’”

“That’s all?”

“Yes. And then I’ll eat faster na.”

A simple reminder of ‘last 5 minutes’ is all it takes to make this distracted little boy pick up his spoon and gobble up.

And sometimes that’s all we need in life.

A simple reminder.

That time is limited.

And life is fleeting.

The difference with school recess is that God doesn’t tell us exactly how much years we have left in our lifetime.

It would’ve been great if He did, right?

Maybe we’ll take relationships more seriously.

Maybe we’ll start saying ‘no’ to the wrong things.

Maybe we’ll love others more.

But I guess that’s not how life works. And maybe it’s better for us not to know it anyway.

For what it’s worth, at least we get to count the years we’ve been alive and celebrate birthdays.

So, if you have another day to be alive, thank God and make sure it counts.

Time is limited and life is fleeting.
