Bambi was a 1942 classic from Disney. And last night, our kid watched the whole film.
He enjoyed it so much he stayed on it for more than an hour. He laughed at funny scenes, shouted when the bad guys are coming, and even wondered why Bambi's mother disappeared.
Phasing of old movies is so different. Kids would definitely find it slow and dragging compared to videos they watch online nowadays. And yes, our kid also watch Youtube.
So what made our kid enjoy a 1940's movie?
It's because he read a Bambi book just last week. And that book had the exact same characters, the exact same dialogues, and the exact same storyline- Bambi, the hero, will soon become the Great Prince of the forest.
So watching the movie version was a visual treat for him. Imagine seeing all the characters come into life.
Now while we're looking for the next book to read, I'm wondering if it will have the same impact as Bambi. I guess we just need to keep on reading good stories.
And when he grows up we will read the Greatest Story of all.
And we don't need to watch it on TV. Because someday we will meet the Hero in person.
And He's bigger than the Great Prince of the forest.
He is the King of Kings.
What a visual treat that will be!
