Overthinking Is Not A Fruit Of The Spirit
Updated: Sep 1

I had trouble sleeping the whole week.
I started with a full list of to-do’s, but for some reason, a lot of it was left unchecked by the weekend
I thought maybe it’s the weather.
According to research, gloomy weather triggers anxiety by disrupting your brain chemistry, comfort, and routine.
When we are not careful, our mind can easily sink deep into the well of confusion and anxiety.
And we instinctively hold on to our fight-or-flight mode to keep us afloat, while we face another round of mindless overthinking and worrying about the absurd what-ifs of life.
Maybe it’s the caffeine slowly leaving my system.
Or maybe I'm just watching too much news lately.
Whatever the case may be, I realized that anxiety comes when emotions go far ahead of reality. It’s when my heart gets two steps ahead of my mind.
And the wisest thing to do is to pause and literally do nothing at all.
So starting today, I will regularly remind myself that overthinking is not a fruit of the Spirit.
By the way, how’s your weekend?
