Random Moments Are Happy Accidents

Last Saturday was supposed to be a well-planned day.

I checked on my mental to-do list and reminded myself that if I leave the house by 12:45pm, everything will go as planned.

But then a flat tire happened.

So I grudgingly changed the spare tire, quickly drove to the vulcanizing shop to have the flare tire checked, and hoped I can still do my grocery errands on time.

The tire guy showed me a tiny staple wire struck at the side of the wheel, too small that he almost missed it.

As I was driving out of the shop, I thought to myself how random would it be that, out of all the cars in the city, a staple wire would pick my front wheel to mess with right at the most busiest day of the week.

But I guess accidents are not random after all.

I got to the grocery late. And although my to-do list was ruined by a random staple wire on the side of the road, I thought I could still make this day end well.

I remember watching reels of guys paying for the groceries of random people next to them. And I thought that would be fun.

So as I was loading my items at the cashier, I looked behind me to see if I could pull off something similar.

Next to me were two kids each holding a Dutch Mill drink.

I told the cashier I’ll pay for their stuff.

The kids smiled. Me and the cashier also smiled. And it did turn out to be a good day.

Life is full of randomness.

But I realized that random moments can turn into happy accidents if we’re willing to do something randomly fun and exciting once in a while.
