“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." -John 3:16
What makes Christianity different from other religions?
Other religions say that in order to be saved and find favor with God, you must do enough good works. It is man making an effort to reach God.
Christianity is the exact opposite.
Christianity teaches that God knows our sinful condition, recognizing that we cannot do enough on our own. But because God loves us, He sent Jesus Christ, His Son, to be our savior. So through Christ, we can find favor with God and be saved.
It is God who made the effort to reach down to us.
Religions say you need works in order to be saved.
It’s like saying salvation can be earned on your own efforts.
But Christianity says,
It’s not about how good you are.
It’s not about how much you accomplished.
It’s not about how much you know.
The Bible says Jesus is our only way to salvation.
And the cross is His reminder that He made a way for you and me to be saved.
Jesus took the punishment we deserved for our sins so we can be right with God.
And now, He offers forgiveness and salvation to all who will repent and put their faith in Him.
"Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone."
Whatever your current situation is, if God is speaking to you right now and you are willing to respond, here's what you need to do:
Admit
Admit that you are a sinner in need of God’s forgiveness and that you have no capacity to save yourself.
Believe
Believe that Jesus is our Savior and that He died and rose from the dead to give His life as payment for our sins.
Commit
Commit to turn away from sin in repentance and to surrender your life to Jesus as Lord.
And now you can start by placing your faith in Jesus today.
Dear Jesus,
I acknowledge that I am a sinner in need of a savior.
And whatever effort I make,
I won’t be able to save myself.
I acknowledge that God’s justice says
that my sins need to be punished.
But because of Your love for us,
even while we were still sinners,
You gave Your life for us,
by dying on the cross and rising from death
to pay for the penalty of my sins.
And so today, I accept you, Jesus, as my Lord and Savior.
And in faith, I put my trust in You alone,
as the only way to eternal life.
Thank You for the forgiveness and everlasting life I now have.
Amen.
